FOFS holds in-person screenings of the Official Selection at the ScotiaBank Theatre located at 259 Richmond St W., in the heart of downtown Toronto. Virtual screenings of select films in the FOFS Collection stream exclusively on CBC Gem, for a national audience across Canada.

FOFS believes in fostering the future of Canadian film and aims to provide platforms for emerging filmmakers to network, cultivate and share their talents.
FOFS programs exclusively Canadian films made by emerging filmmakers aged 40 and younger. Each year, FOFS screens an eclectic group of films ranging from narrative to documentary to experimental pieces.
In addition to our film programming, FOFS presents a robust industry programme that includes panels and workshops focusing on topics like funding, post-production, marketing and distribution, among others.
FOFS also has year-round programming in collaboration with other festivals and arts organizations like TIFF Next Wave, POV, Images Festival, and more.

Cineplex is committed to improving access for guests with disabilities. A limited number of accessible seats are available in each theatre, and guide animals are permitted throughout the theatre. There is an elevator at the entrance of the building, for guests that cannot use the escalator. For more details on Cineplex's accessibility policy click here.

FOFS takes measures to ensure that our Festival is accessible to an even wider audience.
ASL interpreters are present at in-person Festival events, including Film Screenings, Industry Panels and After Parties.
All in-person film and video content played on screen during in-person events have open captions in English, so that no additional caption machines are necessary.
Select digital programming on FOFS' digital channels include ASL interpretation and/or closed captioning in English, including digital Industry Panels and Filmmaker Q&A's.

Festival Screenings are general admission, with viewer discretion advised as there may be content screened that is not suitable for those under the age of 14.
Those under the age of 19 will not be permitted to the FOFS After Party, as alcoholic beverages will be served. Special consideration will be given to filmmakers whose work is appearing at the festival, although they will not be allowed to consume alcohol of any kind at the event.

FOFS is committed to keeping our audiences, industry guests, and Festival Team safe. We need your help to make our spaces as accessible as possible.
FOFS will be enforcing the following COVID protocols at all in-person events at the 2022 Festival:
Festival guests will be required to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination (min. 2 doses), completed at least 14 days prior to the event, accompanied by photo ID.
Proof of vaccination will be checked by our Festival Volunteers prior to entry into event spaces.
Masks are not required but are highly encouraged.

The majority of FOFS events are general admission with tickets and/or required registration. Doors for in-person events will open 30 minutes prior to an event’s start time. We do not currently offer rush tickets.
Tickets for Festival Events at the Scotiabank Theatre (a Cineplex venue) will be available to purchase on Cineplex’s website. All refund requests for FOFS events held at Scotiabank Theatre must be directed to Cineplex.
Tickets for Festival Events at alternate venues will be available to purchase on the Eventbrite website. All refund requests for Festival Events held at FOFS venues should be directed to info@fofs.ca.

Submissions for FOFS generally open in the Fall of each year, and close the following Spring.

It is the filmmaker's responsibility to read and understand the submission guidelines before making their submission. Submission fees for ineligible films will not be refunded, except in extenuating circumstances. Our submission guidelines can be found on our FilmFreeway page.
