Laura Mingail is the founder of Archetypes & Effects, where she supports entertainment and technology companies with insights-led marketing and business development strategy and execution. Her advisory work also helps organizations and storytellers understand shifts in technology, audience behaviour, and business models, and what those changes may mean for future strategy and market opportunities.

Award-winning voice actor Brian Doe Chua's career spans across many mediums of performance for over a decade, and covers multiple Network Animated Series, AAA Video Games, and various Canadian National commercial campaigns. Brian is perhaps best-known for lending their voice to the My Little Pony: Equestria Girls universe, various anime series including World Trigger, Kingdom, and Beyblade Burst, and video games such as Infinity Nikki and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Other select animation titles include the new LEGO Friends series, Johnny Test, The Legend of Hei 2, and Barbie: The Pearl Princess…to name a few.  

Entering his career as “Brian Doe”, he decided to include his last name to honour the Chinese side of his heritage. In adopting their mother’s maiden name as part of his professional identity, he is embracing another side of himself.  

With a passion for advocacy and equity, Brian currently sits in a leadership position as Vice President of ACTRA National, and routinely appears as a guest speaker and adjudicator at various educational institutions and award shows.

As ACTRA’s National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator, Marie Kelly demands fairness, respect, and the safety of ACTRA’s 30,000 members across Canada. Marie’s mission is to improve the working lives of performers by setting high standards for collective bargaining. She strategically leads the charge for public policies that ensure Canada’s screen industry continues to flourish and deliver world-class screen entertainment. Her role as Vice-President of the International Federation of Actors (FIA) Executive Committee brings ACTRA’s voice to the world stage.

A dedicated advocate for equity, inclusion and social justice, Marie is a veteran lawyer with a long history of advocating for workers’ rights within Canada’s labour movement. She joined ACTRA in 2019 after leading the Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA) as its Chief Executive Officer and Chief Administrative Officer. Prior to ONA, Marie worked for the United Steelworkers where over the course of 22 years she served in various capacities starting out as legal counsel, and becoming the first woman in North America to be appointed to the position of Assistant Director.

Mark Edwards is the founder and managing partner of Edwards Creative Law, LLP, an entertainment law boutique with offices in Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg and Vancouver and a practice that extends to every common law province in Canada. Mark’s personal focus is live-action and animated films and series, video games, and digital media.

Mark acts for Canadian producers and studios and for US and foreign buyers of Canadian entertainment products and services. He brings nearly 30 years of experience structuring, funding, financing, producing and exploiting linear and interactive media – to ensure that his clients minimize their risks while maximizing the benefits of Canada’s favourable production environment, low dollar and generous production tax credits.

In addition to his legal practice, Mark has developed, financed and delivered hundreds of episodes of children’s animation – most often as international co-productions under one of Canada’s many bi-lateral audio-visual production treaties; launched CrowdWave, a proprietary, mass-interactive game platform for professional and collegiate sports; and managed the development and production of state-of-the-art branded content and destination web sites for major US advertisers.
