FOFS Official Selections

Join us at Cineplex’s Scotiabank Theatre as we screen this year’s Shorts Programme, followed by a filmmaker Q&A moderated by Zac Goldkind.

With fourteen films rounding out the 2022 FOFS Shorts Programme, there exists an equal and substantial amount of aesthetic discursiveness as there is textual overlap. These are films intrigued by the capacity for visual articulation, roused by the formations of emotionality existing through montage. From ideas orbiting around the yearning for a reclamation of the self — in dialogue with a quandary towards communal belonging — to what, exactly, the abstraction of identity looks like under and a part of persisting colonial pressures, these are films that remark upon the sown conservatism of contemporary ideology and seek, whether literally or figuratively, some sort of arrangement that might signify an emancipation.

— Zac Goldkind | Director of Programming, FOFS
